Herding Training & Trials
About Herding
Herding is the art of having a dog move stock to where you want them to go. The stock can include sheep, ducks, cattle, or goats. In competition they are maneuvered through a course of obstacles and have a maximum time limit. These obstacles are a representative of things that might be found on a farm including gate holes, pens, over bridges and just to the next field. The dogs need to be able to round the sheep up and keep them under control during the entire course. To learn more about herding, visit AKC's Herding Guide. |
